Our Team

In 2022, Mélia left her hometown of Ottawa to begin her career as a lawyer at SBA. Mélia always knew she wanted to be a lawyer since she was born with a natural knack for gab. Mélia went on to substantiate her skills by obtaining a Juris doctor degree from the University of Ottawa. 

While in law school, Mélia served as the Co-President of the Black Law Student Association, was Assistant Editor for the Ottawa Law Review and worked as a Caseworker at the University of Ottawa Community Legal Clinic.

When she’s not writing loss transfer opinions or appearing before the Superior Court of Justice, Mélia enjoys exploring Toronto’s diverse food scene and riding her bike a little off the beaten path. A former Girl Scout, Mélia still enjoys volunteering, knitting, and hiking.

In keeping with her name, Mélia is fluent in French. May-lee-ah is the French pronunciation of her name. Alternatively, you may pronounce it Mee-lee-ah, like Amelia, but without the A.
