The son of a plaintiff lawyer, Daniel decided in law school that he wanted to work for the insurance industry. Daniel’s practice focuses on anything to do with coverage, including policy wordings, priority between insurers, extra-provincial claims, and umbrellas.
Daniel is the co-author of Auto Insurance Coverage Law in Ontario (LexisNexis, 2017), which provides everthing the reader ever wanted to know about auto insurance coverage law in Ontario. He is also on the Lexpert “Repeatedly Recommended” list for “Litigation - Commercial Insurance”.
Daniel has tried to play Risk, but he could never occupy Europe. So he decided to stop playing board games and conquered the Canadian Risk Management (CRM) Certificate. Now he takes risks advising clients on risk management issues, including cyber breaches, legal liability, and skydiving.
When he should be writing opinion letters, Daniel blogs for the Canadian Underwriter’s Insurance Blogs. His Twitter handle is @DanStrigberger, where he tweets about insurance-related news and cases as they happen. His favourite hashtags include #OntInsLaw, #Coverage, and #IceCream.
Daniel moved from Toronto to Waterloo in 2010. Only 18 months later, he was honoured as one of the Region`s Top 40 Under 40. Only 18 months after receiving the Top 40 Under 40, Daniel became the first recipient of that Award ever to spend three months living in a local retirement home (at age 39). Ask him to tell you about it!
